How to book a Northern Lights holiday

Checked October 2026

You send an enquiry here, and it goes straight to our travel team at The JLT Group. They call you back, or email first if you'd rather, then plan and book the holiday with you. Your booking and payment are with The JLT Group. Their own booking steps will appear on this page once they confirm them.

This site covers where, when and what a trip includes. Our travel team at The JLT Group plans and books your trip, and your booking and payment are with The JLT Group. We show no price as our offer: every quote is for your own dates.

Who books my trip?

The JLT Group books it. Our travel team there plans the holiday with you, then books it. They'll call you back, or email first if you'd rather.

The ATOL Regulations 2012 set the rules here. Regulation 16 says a business must not hold itself out as able to sell flights unless it's entitled to. It must say what capacity it acts in. And it must not suggest it holds an ATOL it doesn't hold.

That's why The JLT Group is named beside the form and the phone number. It's also why the foot of every page carries The JLT Group's details and the protection wording it supplies, word for word.

What happens after I enquire?

Our travel team at The JLT Group calls you back, or emails first if you'd rather. [The JLT Group's own booking steps go here once they confirm them.]

For comparison, here's how one operator describes its own steps. The Aurora Zone takes a deposit to hold the holiday. It sends written confirmation. The balance is due 16 weeks before departure. Final documents arrive about a week before you go. That's The Aurora Zone's process, not necessarily The JLT Group's.

How to book a Northern Lights trip?

Decide where, when and what kind of trip first. Then send the form. The other pages on this site help with each one.

The form asks for the things a quote needs. That's the type of trip, a rough month and the number of nights. It asks how many adults are going, and any children's ages. It asks for your departure airport and a rough budget per person. It also asks whether you've booked something similar before.

Have your passports to hand. On 15 October 2026, the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) said that for Norway your passport must be under 10 years old on arrival. It must also be valid for 3 months after you leave. You can stay up to 90 days in any 180 without a visa. You may be asked for proof of accommodation, insurance and a return ticket. The EU's border registration scheme may add time at passport control. Check the FCDO page for wherever you're going, close to the date.

Who can book a trip with flights, hotel and excursions included?

A travel agent or tour operator can. On this site that's The JLT Group, who plan and book your trip.

How you're protected depends on what you book and who sells it. The JLT Group's own protection wording sits at the foot of this page. The rules are on how financial protection works, and what it does not cover.

Which UK travel agent is best?

We don't rank agents. Every enquiry on this site goes to our travel team at The JLT Group, and every page says so.

Whoever you book with, ask the same questions. Here are five that matter for a Northern Lights trip:

  • Who decides if the lights were seen? The Aurora Zone says to read the small print on any "Northern Lights guarantee". It says no responsible operator can promise a display.
  • What does the insurance need to cover? The FCDO says take out insurance before you go. The Aurora Zone makes it a pre-requisite and doesn't check outside policies. It says to run through every activity with your insurer.
  • Are there single supplements? The Aurora Zone says they apply, sometimes on activities.
  • When is the balance due? The Aurora Zone asks for it 16 weeks before departure.
  • Are flights in the price? The Aurora Zone says flights are included on most of its trips. It adds that they can carry a supplement if fares rise.

The full list is on questions to ask before you book.
